Coaching History
David Goodman — Head Coach (2016-present)
Hired in summer 2016 as head coach for both the women's and men's programs. Women's tenure record: 118-117 (.502) across 11 seasons (2016-2026).
Biola Athletics Coach of the Year: 2022 (first) and 2025-26 (second). He also won PacWest Coach of the Year for the first time in April 2026 (men's tennis), a separate conference honor.
Goodman previously served as part-time men's tennis head coach 2012-2014; that earlier stint is not included in the women's tenure total.
Program Milestones Under Goodman
2021: First winning season in 27 years (13-8); first NCAA DII West Regional appearance; first PacWest season.
2022: Program-best D2-era record (21-6); first home-undefeated PacWest season (14-0).
2025: PacWest Championship final appearance; second NCAA DII West Regional.
Head coaches prior to 2016 are still being researched; no records have been captured yet for the 1971-2015 era.
Postseason
Biola joined the PacWest Conference for NCAA Division II competition in 2021. All PacWest Championships are held at Surprise Tennis & Racquet Club in Surprise, Arizona.
2025 PacWest Championship runners-up — the program's first championship-match appearance, falling 3-4 to Point Loma in the final on April 19, 2025. All six PacWest tournament appearances have come under David Goodman.

| Season ↕ | Recipient | Honor | Conferring Body | Era |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2025-26 | Women's Tennis | ITA National Team Ranking13-9 overall; 5th at PacWest Championships | ITA | NCAA DII |
| 2025-26 | David Goodman | Biola Athletics Head Coach of the YearInternal all-sports DEPARTMENT award (not a conference honor); second time (first was 2022, corroborated by his staff bio). Goodman coaches both the women's and men's programs; the 2025-26 digest lists this under Men's Tennis tied to the men's NCAA DII run, so on a women's-tennis page it is a cross-program note. Distinct from PacWest Coach of the Year, a separate CONFERENCE award Goodman won for the first time in April 2026 (men's tennis). Single-source: appears only on Biola's own honors digest. | Biola Athletics | NCAA DII |
| 2025-26 | Jackson Boxall | ITA Division II Men's West Region Assistant Coach of the YearIndependently confirmed on the 2026 ITA Division II MEN'S West Region awards release (Jackson Boxall, Biola University). This is a men's-tennis award, not a women's-tennis honor: the 2026 ITA DII WOMEN'S West Region Assistant Coach of the Year was Alessa Maier (Fresno Pacific). Boxall coaches both Biola programs, so on a women's-tennis page this is a cross-program note. | ITA | NCAA DII |
